Healthy Roster is officially certified as a Datalys Center-compatible EMR, which means our college-setting customers can easily take part in the NCAA Injury Surveillance Program! We think this initiative is such an important way to enhance the care for college student-athletes, and we’re excited to introduce an incredibly easy way to take part in this program without adding time to your workflow. With our integration, there’s no double entry - everything is done from within the Incident Report you’re already creating for an Injury or Illness!

What is Datalys:
The NCAA ISP is a data collection initiative designed to track and analyze medical illnesses and injuries that result from sport participation. Since 1982, athletic trainers have collaborated with the NCAA to create the largest collegiate sports injury database program in the world. Today, the NCAA Sport Science Institute partners with the Datalys Center, an independent non-profit research organization, to manage the ISP and to help inform injury prevention policies and practices in college sport. With your school’s help, the ISP can provide evidence-based knowledge to help understand associations between sport participation and illness/injury, thereby enhancing injury prevention practices, risk-management decisions, athletic health care delivery and ultimately, the quality of student-athlete care at all NCAA schools.

Process Changes For Datalys:
Once we turn on datalys for your account you will notice changes throughout to help you collect the necessary information. We will turn on background questions for Incident Reports, as well as background questions for events.
The background questions for these sections host requested information directly from Datalys. We only set "was there a concussion" on the incident report as required per their recommendation. The reason being- if you don't want to send that specific injury/condition to Datalys, you don't need to complete all the background questions. If you plan to send the injury to Datalys, you will want to answer all associated background questions, otherwise Datalys will ask you to completed it and resubmit the data.
Step-By-Step Tutorial:
- To Begin you will need to make an event, you will note background questions associated to the event itself: Event type, Sport, Number of Athletes, Season, Surface, and Total Number of Athletes on Roster. Answer all questions.

You DO NOT have to create an event before creating an incident report. However please be aware if you do not create an event for an incident it will not be able to sync over to Datalys.
Adding Attendance to Events: Adding attendance to the event is now accessible to tie your participants to the event in question
- Once a patient/athlete is injured you will maintain your normal injury creation flow. When creating the Injury you will now need to input a Diagnosis code and answer the background questions for Datalys.

- On the incident report you will also see a few additions. The first being the field that links the incident to the event and the second being the additional background question “Was there a concussion?”. If selecting yes, additional questions will populate.

- Complete the rest of your incident report and select Save.
If you have previous injuries that you intend to send prior to Datalys being turned on for your account, you will need to go back and add the Datalys Injury Code
Submitting to Datalys:
We recommend that submission is kept to one admin provider user for the Healthcare account as a whole and that submissions take place with a large date range in order to accommodate for injuries/incidents that have missing required background questions to submit again.
Step-By-Step Tutorial:
- Log in to your Healthy Roster Account and select the admin tab

- Next select Datalys

- Next select Submissions

- Now select Add

- Input the desired date range

- Now you will see your submissions
