Video Tutorial: Step-By-Step Tutorial: Kiosk Mode Troubleshooting How to Update Auto-Lock Settings - iOS: How to Update Auto-Lock Settings - Android:

We understand how hectic an Athletic Trainer's training facility can be, so we've created Kiosk Mode. When an Athletic Trainer enters this mode, their device will be “locked down,” the device will not be able to navigate away from kiosk mode

This means you can safely and securely have your patients enter their own encounters into the system while you perform them to cut down on time. Once you're done, you can go back and approve each logged encounter one by one to make sure they're correct. We want you to spend more time treating your patients rather than documenting.

Step-By-Step Tutorial:

  1. Enable Guided Access / Screen Pinning on your mobile device

Note: You will only need to enable one time; subsequent launches of Health Roster Kiosk Mode will not require the setup of Guided Access or Screen Pinning

iOS

Android

  1. Go to your device settings

  1. Search Guided Access and select it

  1. Toggle on Guided Access

Note: You will also need "Accessibility Shortcut" toggled on

  1. Set a passcode by selecting Passcode Settings
  2. Select set Guided Access Passcode

  1. Set a four-digit passcode

  1. Go to your device security settings
  2. In your security settings, scroll to the bottom of the page for “other security settings” or “advanced settings” and click on that
  3. On a Samsung device, scroll to “pin app” and turn that on. On a Google device, such as a Pixel, this will say “screen pinning” instead of “pin app.”
  4. Next, turn on “ask for a pin before unpinning.”

  1. This will enable a security feature which is very important.
  2. To exit screen pinning mode, you will have to enter your device pin. If you have a face ID or touch ID set up on your device, that will work here as well
  3. Now, select your recent apps button and click on the pin icon and then select “start”. Now screen pinning mode is enabled.
  4. Tap the back arrow until you’ve returned to the Healthy Roster app.
  1. Log in to Healthy Roster app and select Settings

  1. Select Treatment Kiosk

  1. Triple-click the home button or side button to launch the kiosk in guided access/ screen pinning

  1. Your kiosk will now be active.

  1. To exit Kiosk Mode, triple-click the home button or side button, enter your guided access passcode, and select “end” in the upper left corner of the screen

  1. Next select Exit Kiosk Mode

After logging encounters in Kiosk Mode, make sure to follow the steps for  How to Review and Approve Pending Encounters (iOS and Android) to save these encounters to the patient's profile

Kiosk Mode Troubleshooting

To ensure the best experience and extended session duration while using Kiosk Mode, your device must meet the following conditions:

  • Re-Authorization Window: When pinned, the app extends the re-authorization timeout from 15 minutes to 4 hours.
  • App Must Remain Open: The app must stay open and in the foreground for the duration of use.
  • Auto-Lock Settings: Your device’s auto-lock must be configured to avoid being logged out when your device’s auto-lock times out.

How to Update Auto-Lock Settings - iOS:

To keep the app active and prevent screen locking during Guided Access:

  • In Settings > Accessibility > Guided Access, tap Display Auto-Lock.
  • Set this to Never.

This ensures the screen will stay on during your session.

How to Update Auto-Lock Settings - Android:

Adjust Screen Timeout

  • Open Settings > Display.
  • Tap Sleep or Screen timeout.
  • Select a longer duration (e.g., 10 minutes) or Never (if available).

Tip: On some Android devices, you can enable Stay Awake while charging by enabling Developer Options and toggling Stay awake. This keeps the screen on while plugged in.
