Video Tutorial: Portal and App Step-By-Step Tutorial: Portal Step-By-Step Tutorial: App

We adjust the baseline start date in Sway to control which assessments are included in an athlete’s baseline. This is useful after RTP to exclude pre-injury baselines, and to include valid assessments that were accidentally recorded as non-baseline tests. This action may be completed on individual profiles or if you'd rather with all profiles in the group.

Why you may adjust the baseline start date:

  • After a concussion + RTP:
If an athlete completes RTP and then takes a new baseline, you don’t want Sway averaging in their old, pre-injury baselines. Adjusting the baseline start date ensures only the post-RTP baseline(s) are used as their new “normal.” This keeps post-injury comparisons accurate and clinically meaningful.
  • When a baseline was taken incorrectly as a plain assessment:
If someone accidentally records what should’ve been a baseline as a regular assessment, adjusting the baseline start date can allow that test (and others after that date) to be included in the baseline calculation — even though it wasn’t originally flagged as a baseline. This helps “rescue” good data without having to retest the athlete.
  • When it's been 6 months since the last baseline test:
When it has been 6 months since the last baseline test, the baseline start date will automatically adjust when a new baseline is completed. If the previous baseline has not yet met the 6-month requirement, manually adjusting the baseline start date will take previous baselines and their dates into consideration so they can be included appropriately.

This feature is available on the ✅ Web Portal and the ✅ Mobile Application.

Video Tutorial: Portal and App

00:01: Hi, this is Nikki. Let's review how to adjust our Baseline. Start date on the web, as well as the mobile application. As a reminder, we're adjusting Baseline start dates to control which assessments count toward an athlete's Baseline. This helps exclude pre-injury baselines after return to play and include valid tests that were accidentally recorded as non-base lines adjustments. Can be made on an individual profile or across all profiles within a group.

00:29: You may be curious as to why you might adjust the Baseline start date. Here, we will walk through the most common examples.

00:36: After a concussion or return to play this ensures, that only posts return to play. Baselines are used to keeping comparisons accurate.

00:45: Next, perhaps you had a baseline that was recorded incorrectly. This allows test mistakenly marked as regular assessments to count toward the Baseline.

00:54: Lastly, perhaps it's been six months since the last Baseline test has been completed automatically or manually, adjust to include previous baselines, appropriately for accurate calculations.

01:06: On the web application Begin by searching for your patient's profile.

01:11: Once you've navigated to their profile, select the three dot icon.

01:17: Now, select adjust Baseline.

01:21: Next, select to use all tests or use tests from a start date.

01:27: If you have selected to use test, starting from a date, add the calendar, picker to choose, the appropriate date and select, okay.

01:36: Now, select save to apply your changes.

01:40: Now, let's review how to complete the same action on the mobile application.

01:45: You will Begin by searching and clicking on your patient profile.

01:51: Your last Baseline will be recorded.

01:53: To move the Baseline, click on the Baseline and drag and drop it to the proper location.

02:00: Next confirm your Baseline adjustment by selecting confirm.
